Brazil, the most successful nation in World Cup history with a record five titles won in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002, have been unable to recreate that glory since. They will aim to end a wait
of more than two decades when the tournament kicks off in June in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) have turned to the experienced Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti in a bid to bring the coveted trophy back to its spiritual home. The 66-year-old is expected to spare no effort in his pursuit of the World Cup crown.
Brazil roped in the most successful manager in European club football with the sole objective of delivering the most successful nation on the international scene their elusive sixth crown.
Ancelotti’s track record is formidable: he is the only manager to have won the UEFA Champions League five times, twice with AC Milan and three times with Real Madrid.
The football-obsessed nation will place their faith in the veteran manager to deliver the sport’s greatest prize back to Brazil after 24 years.
