Ace India batter Virat Kohli teased Yashasvi Jaiswal with a Tere Naam reference after the youngster brought up his maiden ODI hundred in the third and final ODI of the three-match series against South Africa earlier this month, the latter has revealed in a recent chat.
Jaiswal brought up his maiden ODI hundred during the game with Kohli at the other end, guiding him through the knock.
Jaiswal began his knock slowly but picked up pace alongside Kohli as India bagged a nine-wicket victory over South Africa. While the former has often credited Kohli for guiding him in his career, this time he revealed a more playful, mischievous side of the senior batter.

During the series, Kohli teased Jaiswal’s hairstyle, comparing it to Salman from Tere Naam. The latter recalled Kohli singing “Lagan lag gayi re” and dancing with him, showing his lighter side.
Jaiswal added that while Kohli has a fantastic sense of humour, he is all business when it comes to the game.
“There is a song called ‘Lagan Lag Gayi Re‘. So Kohli was singing that song to me and dancing. That was a fun conversation. Even before I went to bat, he was telling me things,” Jaiswal said while speaking on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.
“His (Kohli’s) sense of humour is great and he is very funny. But when he is serious, the entire world knows the level of intensity with which he plays. I really enjoy playing with him,” Jaiswal said.
The star Indian batter was also shown a video of himself practising with Kohli in the nets ahead of his Test debut. Jaiswal said that they often have discussions with Kohli about ways to improve his game.
“Yes, absolutely. We were talking a lot about things like when the ball comes, what my position should be and what I should do so that I don’t get stuck. There were a lot of discussions,” Jaiswal said.
