Despite Pakistan’s decision to boycott their group-stage T20 World Cup match against India on February 15, sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have stated that the Indian team will travel to Sri Lanka as per ICC protocol and wait for the match referee to call off the game, as per a report.
ANI quoted sources saying that Team India will adhere to all necessary ICC protocols, practice as scheduled, hold their press conference, and arrive at Colombo’s SSC Cricket Ground.
“Team India will travel to Sri Lanka and follow ICC protocol. They will practice as per schedule, do a press conference and reach the stadium according to time and wait for the match referee to call off the match,” ANI quoted the source as saying.
Pakistan
decided to boycott the group-stage match against India in the ICC World T20 World Cup, scheduled for February 15. The Pakistan government announced on X that the Pakistan team “shall not take the field” in the match against India.
“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026; however, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India,” said the post by the Government of Pakistan.
India Vs Pakistan In T20 World Cup
Pakistan do have a poor record against India in ICC T20 World Cups, with India leading 7-1 in their eight encounters.
Defending champions Team India are in Group A with Namibia, the Netherlands, the USA, and Pakistan. The Men in Blue will play their opening fixture against the USA on February 7, followed by their match on February 12.
All of Pakistan’s matches are scheduled in Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the tournament with India. Pakistan begins their campaign against the Netherlands on February 7, the tournament’s opening day, before facing the USA and Namibia on February 10 and 18, respectively.
