No matter the variety of snacks available in the market, samosas are an all-time favourite snack among foodies. The crunchy crust on the outside and the mouthwatering filling inside are simply irresistible
when paired with the sweet and savoury chutney. And whether you admit it or not, we all love eating this delicacy with our hands.
But, a UK-based samosa specialist has stirred an online frenzy after sharing a video of himself showing his way of eating a samosa with cutlery.
What’s In The Video?
The video posted with the overlay text, ‘Samosa eating etiquette’, showed the specialist demonstrating a formal way to eat a samosa using a knife and fork at a dining table. He begins by pressing down on the samosa with the fork to stabilise it and then carefully cutting it.
The man’s special suggestion? He advises to avoid cutting it in the middle to avoid crumbling. He also instructs on taking small bites, dipping into sauce, and repeating the process meticulously.

What Did Social Media Users Say?
The video, which has garnered over 319.5K million views till now, has undoubtedly stirred a light-hearted debate about culinary traditions and personal preferences. Many poked fun at using Western table etiquette for a traditional Indian snack, while others called it the most ridiculous thing.
“Mene toh 2 kha liye jitni der mein usne sikhaya,” quipped a user.
Another said, “He took all the kick out of eating a samosa – no fun!! Just use your fingers!”
“Can we just stop teaching ourselves British table etiquette and try eating Indian food, especially the way it is supposed to be eaten? In which era are these guys living? Still validating themselves by acting like the West? This robotic systematic era is long gone and forgotten. Yes, go ahead with such etiquette based on the Western cuisine requirements…but not for Indian cuisine, please!” read a comment.
An individual stated, “If you are asked to have a samosa like this, you are in the wrong room with a bunch of fake people… just run away from there.”
“Having observed proper dining etiquette closely, I can affirm: the authentic way to enjoy a samosa is by hand, not with a fork and knife. True etiquette honours tradition; practicality need not be compromised for pretence,” said a user.
A user added, “Most ridiculous thing I’ve seen today. Western food is mostly preserved meat-based; that is why they’d use a fork and knife to eat and alcohol to bear and gulp it. Indian food comes from variety and abundance; there is no need to treat food like nuclear waste.”
“Eating a samosa with a fork and knife!! Bro just colonised the Indian snack. Samosas are meant to be finger-lick diplomacy, not a 5-star operation,” commented another.
