World No. 1 Test team Australia will begin their 2026-27 home season with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, with the first match set to begin in Darwin on August 13. The Aussies currently sit at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table and will be keen to strengthen their position with another strong showing at home.
The opening Test will be played in Darwin from August 13 to 17, while the second red-ball clash is scheduled to take place in Mackay from August 22 to 26.
Australia last hosted Bangladesh for a Test series in 2003 and registered comprehensive innings victories in both matches. The hosts will be hoping to produce another dominant performance in the upcoming series and maintain their position at the summit
of the WTC standings.
However, Australia cannot afford to take Bangladesh lightly. When the two sides last met in a Test series in 2017, Bangladesh pulled off a major upset by defeating Australia by 20 runs in the first Test in Mirpur. The visitors will be looking to draw confidence from that historic result when they face the formidable Australians on their home turf.
For their third series of the ongoing WTC 2025-27 cycle, Australia have named a strong squad and will enter the contest as firm favourites.
