The internet has discovered a new playground for chaos, and this time, it’s powered by artificial intelligence. In the aftermath of James Cameron’s latest visual spectacle, Avatar: Fire and Ash, social media timelines were suddenly flooded with videos and images claiming that Bollywood star Govinda had made a surprise cameo in the film. The only problem? None of it is real.
AI-generated clips showing Govinda as a blue-skinned Na’vi began circulating widely, leaving fans confused, amused, and alarmed in equal measure. The digitally altered visuals were convincing enough to spark genuine debate before the truth caught up.
Govinda, a Na’vi?
The fake videos depict Govinda painted in Avatar’s signature blue, delivering his iconic “batti bujha” dialogue
with theatrical flair. One viral image even shows audiences seated inside a cinema hall, watching Govinda appear on screen in a colourful Gujarati-style jacket while sharing frame space with Jake Sully.

Multiple variations of the fabricated cameo have surfaced, each escalating the absurdity. Some clips splice Govinda seamlessly into battle sequences, while others lean fully into parody, exaggerating his screen presence to meme-worthy extremes.

Another wrote, “Yr iss scene pr goosebumps aa gye the (Guys this scene gave me goosebumps),” adding to the confusion. “This was totally unexpected but loved the cameo,” joked a user. “Og is back 🙌 phaly akshay Khana or ab lord govinda (first it was Akshaye Khanna and now Govinda),” read another viral comment.

Despite the frenzy, the truth is simple: Govinda is not part of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
How Did The Meme Start?
The origin of this bizarre trend can be traced back to an old interview where Govinda claimed that Avatar was once offered to him. Speaking to Mukesh Khanna earlier this year, the actor said he turned down the project—now one of the highest-grossing films of all time with a $2.9 billion box-office haul—because he wasn’t convinced by the idea.
Govinda recalled, “I even left an offer of ₹21.5 crore, although I remember this because it was painful. I had met a Sardarji in America and gave him a business idea to work in sweets and delicacies. Some years later, he said that the idea worked wonders for him. There, he made me meet James Cameron. He asked me to do a film with James, so I invited them for dinner to discuss it.”
He further added, “Picture ka title bhi maine hi diya tha. Maine Rajesh Khanna ji ko dekha tha left hand kata hua… maine kaha, ‘Yaar accha aadmi he pata nahi kyu ajeeb sa role kar liya!’ Toh maine kaha, ‘Second time banegi Avatar!’ Toh mujhe kehta hai, ‘The hero is lame!’… Maine kaha, ‘Lame? Govinda! Hello? I am not doing your picture!’ He said, ‘I am offering you 18 crores.’ I said, ‘I don’t want your 18 crores.’ He said the shoot will be for 410 days. I said that is okay, but if I paint my body, I will be in the hospital!”
The claim didn’t sit well with many—and even Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, dismissed it outright.
“Arey yaar mujhe toh nahi pata yeh kab offer hui, 40 saal toh mujhe hogaye hain Govinda ke saath… Main jhooth nahi bolti naa main kisi ka side lungi. Main jhooth ka saath nahi deti,” she said during a podcast with Uorfi Javed.
