Lucknow, Jun 18 (PTI) Heatwave conditions may prevail at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, while rain and thundershowers may occur at certain areas, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD said Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius, 2.4 notches above normal, and a minimum temperature of 29.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches above normal, on Thursday. No rainfall was recorded in the city between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm.
The weather office has forecast clear skies growing partly cloudy in Lucknow and adjoining areas on Friday, with maximum and minimum temperatures to hover around 41 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Several places in the state recorded temperatures above 40 degrees
Celsius.
Banda was the hottest at 43.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Jhansi at 42.2 degrees Celsius and Prayagraj at 41.8 degrees Celsius. Varanasi recorded a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius, while Bahraich and Kanpur registered 41.4 degrees Celsius each.
