Switzerland registered a 4-1 win over ten-man Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood, USA, on Thursday in their second Group B encounter as the Rossocrocaiti picked up all points on offer against the Zmajevi.
Johan Manzambi struck a brace while Ruben Vargas and Granit Xhaka one each for the Swiss as Bosnia’s got their consolation from Ermin Mahmic after Tarik Muharemovic was sent off.
Manzambi broke the deadlock in the 74th minute of the game after a scoreless firsthalf to initiate a sequence of events towards the end of the fixture, as what seemed gritty turned into rather eventful before the full-time white was blown.
Bosnia, who found themselves trailing after over an hour of solid defending, had to endure further pain
as Muharemovic was given the marching orders to reduce the Balkan nation to ten men for the remainder of the game.
Vargas put the result beyond doubt as he curled the ball in past the keeper, before Manzambi got his second of the night to triple the Swiss lead.
There was further action still remaining towards the conclusion of the engagement as Mahmin rifled one into the back to give Bosnian fans something to sing about, but Switzerland went on to add another goal as Granit Xhaka stepped up to convert from the spot late in added time to give the Rossocrocaiti the rampant win.
Earlier in the day, Czechia played out a draw against South Africa at the Atalanta Stadium in Georgia, USA as Michal Sadilek’s first-half opener was cancelled out by Teboho Mokena’s second-half spot-kick as the sides shared the spoils in a Group A encounter.
