Star India pacer Prince Yadav on Wednesday uprooted Nangeyalia Kharoti’s off-stump with a peach to claim his maiden ODI wicket during the second ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow.
Prince thought he had made an early breakthrough in his third over by dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz, but the opener was handed a lifeline after the ball was ruled a no-ball.
Reintroduced into the attack in the 29th over, Prince was taken for consecutive fours as Rahmat Shah produced a pair of exquisite straight drives. But he responded, striking with the very first delivery of his next over by coming around the wicket and clean bowling the left-handed Kharoti.

Prince glanced back at the umpire to confirm the ball was legal before celebrating, wary of a repeat of the earlier incident when a wicket he thought he had claimed was overturned because of a no-ball.
Earlier, India skipper Shubman Gill overcame intense heat and cramps to produce a sublime 154, while Ishan Kishan ended a three-year wait for an ODI hundred as India amassed a daunting 402 all out against Afghanistan in the second game in Lucknow.
Gill and Kishan tore into the visiting attack with a scintillating 224-run partnership for the third wicket off just 141 balls, laying the platform for India’s commanding total after being put in to bat.
Continuing their experimentation ahead of next year’s World Cup, India promoted Yashasvi Jaiswal to open alongside Rohit Sharma (48), with Gill moving down to No. 3 in the batting order.
But the young left-hander couldn’t make the most of the chance and departed in the second over.
