Mumbai Weather Today: Mumbai and its neighbouring districts witnessed intense overnight rainfall, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for Mumbai, its suburbs and Palghar district on Wednesday. The city is expected to experience further spells of moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds during the day.
The IMD has forecast wind speeds of 41 kmph to 61 kmph in parts of Mumbai and adjoining areas.
IMD Weather Warning For Mumbai Today
According to the latest IMD bulletin, Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs and Palghar remain under a red alert on Wednesday, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
Thane district is under an orange alert, while Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg have
been placed under a yellow alert.
An orange nowcast warning issued at 7 am remains valid for three hours across Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar and Sindhudurg, with moderate to intense spells of rain expected during the period.

Several parts of Mumbai received significant rainfall overnight.
Between 8 am on June 23 and 2 am on June 24, rainfall recorded was:
- City: 78 mm
- Eastern Suburbs: 87 mm
- Western Suburbs: 113 mm
Rainfall intensified during the night, with the city recording:
- City: 184 mm (10 pm to 6 am)
- Western Suburbs: 190 mm
- Eastern Suburbs: 154 mm
Average rainfall between 8 am on June 23 and 8 am on June 24 stood at:
- City: 195 mm
- Eastern Suburbs: 167 mm
- Western Suburbs: 208 mm
In the hour between 1 am and 2 am, Bhandup Complex recorded 40 mm rainfall, while Anand Nagar Municipal School logged 32 mm.

What Is The Weather Forecast For Mumbai Today?
The IMD’s 8 am forecast predicts a generally cloudy sky over Mumbai and its suburbs, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely through the day.
Thunderstorms, lightning activity and occasional intense rain spells are also expected in some areas. Heavy rainfall has already been reported from Kalyan, Dombivli, Karjat and Neral since late Tuesday night.
The Mithi River was flowing at 1.83 metres early Wednesday morning, while authorities continue to closely monitor low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Travel Advisory For Commuters
Commuters are advised to check transport updates before travelling, as weather conditions may affect road and rail movement.
Services on the Trans-Harbour railway line between Turbhe and Kopar Khairane were suspended after soil erosion beneath the tracks rendered the section unsafe. Restoration work is underway and passengers have been advised to use alternative routes.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said waterlogging reported at Andheri Subway, Hindmata, Dadar and Malad Subway had receded by Wednesday morning, while traffic movement at Gandhi Market in Sion returned to normal.
Railway services on other routes and BEST bus operations were reported to be functioning normally.
