New Delhi, Jun 26 (PTI) The Delhi Congress on Friday appointed 509 Mandalam presidents across all 70 Assembly constituencies in the national capital, aimed at strengthening the party’s booth-level network.
In a statement, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Devender Yadav said the appointments take immediate effect and are intended to “strengthen and energise” the organisation at the grassroots.
According to the list released by the party, the 509 Mandalam presidents have been distributed across all district units and Assembly constituencies in Delhi.
The newly appointed office-bearers have been asked to work in accordance with the ideology and organisational principles of the Congress, strengthen the party in their respective Mandalams
(units), maintain coordination with party workers and implement programmes and campaigns issued by the party from time to time, the statement said.
The appointments come weeks after the Delhi Congress launched a campaign to strengthen its booth-level machinery in view of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Earlier this month, the party conducted training workshops for its Booth Level Agent (BLA)-1 workers, saying it would ensure that no eligible voter, particularly from Dalit, minority and economically weaker sections, is removed from the electoral rolls during the revision process.
