Unbeaten Delhi Capitals take on Gujarat Titans, who are yet to get off the mark in the nascent season of the IPL 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday.
DC have two wins from two outings this season as they continue their quest for a maiden title, while former champions GT are yet to get off the mark this campaign and sit only above bottom-placed Chennai Super Kings.
DC opened their campaign with a comfortable 6-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium, chasing down the target with 17 deliveries to spare in a comprehensive display as Sameer Rizvi struck a half-century. The Capitals then doubled their tally with another 6-wicket victory, this time over Mumbai Indians at home, finishing the chase with 11
balls remaining as Rizvi produced a match-winning 90-run knock.
Gujarat Titans began their campaign with a 3-wicket defeat to IPL 2025 finalists Punjab Kings in their season opener, as Cooper Connolly’s unbeaten half-century saw off Shubman Gill and Co. Returning to the Narendra Modi Stadium for their fixture against Rajasthan Royals, GT fell short again, losing by 6 runs in a closely contested game that could have gone either way.
Sameer Rizvi
The former CSK batter has smashed two fifties in as many outings this campaign to take the Capital City side to their win in their games against LSG and MI, and tops the orange cap table with 160 runs to his name. The youngster seems to be having a coming-of-age campaign and his exploits would spur Delhi’s aspirations for a maiden title.
Tristan Stubbs
The South American all-rounder has the ability to take the game away from the opposition on his day and came in good in their first win of the season as he remained unbeaten on 39 runs to take the side over the line.
Kuldeep Yadav
The crafty southpaw has been amongst the wickets this season already and his technical know-how and the actual acumen to bring out his multiple variations at the crucial junctures in the game could prove valuable to the Capital City side.
Sai Sudharsan
The southpaw, who led from the front in GT’s close defeat to Rajasthan Royals with a fifty that ultimately went in vain, will look to continue his good touch when his side travel to the national capital. Sudharsan’s role at the top becomes immensely more crucial if skipper Shubman Gill is unavailable to play.
Jos Buttler
The dashing English batter has the talent to dictate the course and results of the game like no other and will look to carry GT’s hopes after not being able to convert positive starts to his innings into big scores in his side’s opening couple of games.
