Telugu star Allu Arjun has come under fire after a remark he made at his annual fan meet in Hyderabad sparked criticism on social media. While urging fans to stay away from online trolling, the actor’s suggestion that they should instead “wait in front of the girl you like’s house” did not go down well with many users, who accused him of normalising stalking.
Addressing thousands of fans at the Allu Arjun Fan Association summit on Tuesday, the actor spoke not just to his supporters but also to his “anti-fans and haters”. He encouraged people to stop spending time on negativity and focus on things they enjoy.
What did Allu Arjun say?
He said, “I’ve been wanting to say something to my fans, anti-fans, and haters for a long time. Remember what I’m
saying now, because I’ve been waiting for such an occasion. If you don’t like someone, don’t waste time hating and trolling them.”
He then continued with an example that got backlash on social media. “If you don’t like them, just let it be. Don’t waste even 1% of your time on them. If you had Rs 100, would you spend it on something you don’t like? Exactly, don’t spend. Spend time doing something you like. Go wait in front of the girl you like’s house instead,” Allu Arjun added.

Netizens react to Allu Arjun’s comments
The clip went viral, with many social media users criticising Allu Arjun’s remark. Many felt it made light of stalking and said celebrities should be more careful while speaking to their fans. Much of the criticism came from Reddit, where users said the actor’s comment was irresponsible and could send the wrong message.
One user wrote, “Just stop with this shit. There’s men who have stalker/grapist mindset so stop encouraging them! Girls have to bear the brunt of this. One of my friends was literally harassed by her senior who was inspired by Arjun Reddy, so don’t tell me this doesn’t happen.”
Another commented, “This is getting worse and worse. Feels like we are going backwards.”
A third user added, “Imagine if someone stalking his wife or kids of the rival actor’s fan did that what a dumb and illogical statement to make.” A fourth comment read, “He is literally encouraging stalking.”
The actor has not reacted publicly to the criticism at the time of writing.
