Tumbbad 2: Has Alia Bhatt Joined Sohum Shah And Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Film? Find Out

Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad has long been regarded as one of Bollywood’s most underrated horror dramas, earning cult status over the years for its atmospheric storytelling and mythological depth. With Tumbbad 2 now in the works, expectations are naturally soaring among fans. In March, Sohum announced Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s addition to the cast, upping the excitement quotient. Now, the latest report suggests that Alia Bhatt has also come on board for a special appearance.

According to Mid-Day, the makers have roped in Alia Bhatt for a cameo role in the folk horror film. Even though her screen time will be short, the report suggests that it is a very pivotal role in the story. A source told the portal, “The makers needed someone who brings gravitas and

intrigue in a short screen time. Alia fit that space.”

It is also being said that Alia will shoot for the film on May 3 before heading to the US for the Met Gala on May 4. The source further added, “The shoot is tightly planned with an elaborate set constructed in Madh Island. Alia will shoot for two days in all. Since she is making an appearance at the Met Gala on May 4, the makers have brought a double for some patch scenes.” However, the makers are yet to officially announce her addition.

Director Adesh Prasad’s sequel is set to delve deeper into the dark, cursed mythology surrounding the deity Hastar, expanding on the eerie lore established in the first film. It will explore the dangerous consequences of awakening forces that were never meant to be worshipped, promising a more intense and unsettling narrative that builds on the original’s haunting premise.

Meanwhile, Alia is currently busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. It is set to hit theatres in January 2027. On the other hand, Tumbbad 2 is set to arrive on December 3, 2027.
