BRICS Summit 2026 Schedule: The two-day BRICS Summit 2026, hosted by India in New Delhi, will begin on Saturday, September 12, with leaders discussing global governance and multilateralism before a series of official events including an exhibition, family photo, tree-planting ceremony and a gala dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit will conclude on Sunday, September 13, with the main open session and the release of the New Delhi Declaration.
India is hosting the summit as part of its 2026 BRICS chairship, with the grouping expected to focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability across areas including food and energy security, healthcare, disaster resilience, trade, investment, technology and critical supply
chains.

The first day will begin with a closed-door meeting of BRICS member-country leaders.
2:35 pm: BRICS leaders will attend the closed-door session titled “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism”.
4:25 pm: Leaders will visit the Bharat Innovates Exhibition.

The second day will bring together BRICS member-country leaders, partner countries and outreach invitees before the main open session.
9:55 am: Leaders from BRICS member countries, partner countries and outreach invitees will begin arriving.
10:35 am: The official group photograph will take place.
10:50 am: Leaders will attend the main open session, titled “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth”.
The summit will conclude with the release of the New Delhi Declaration, which is expected to reflect the areas where the expanded BRICS grouping can reach consensus.
What Will BRICS Leaders Discuss?
The summit comes amid geopolitical conflicts, trade tensions and disruptions to global supply chains, with India placing resilience and cooperation at the centre of its BRICS agenda. Food and energy security will be among the key priorities. Leaders are expected to discuss cooperation in agriculture, food security and energy, as well as ways to reduce vulnerabilities caused by geopolitical instability and supply-chain disruptions.
Healthcare and disaster-risk reduction are also expected to feature in discussions on building greater resilience among member countries. Economic cooperation will form another major part of the summit, with India seeking to strengthen trade and investment among BRICS economies. Leaders are also expected to discuss connectivity and cooperation in high-technology sectors.
Global governance and reform of multilateral institutions will be another major focus. The first closed-door session on Saturday is specifically dedicated to “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism”, reflecting India’s push for a more representative role for emerging economies in global decision-making.
Who Is Attending BRICS Summit 2026?
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto are among the leaders expected to attend the New Delhi summit.
BRICS originally comprised Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The grouping expanded in 2024 with the addition of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Indonesia became a member in 2025.
The grouping now has 11 member countries.
In 2025, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam were added as BRICS partner countries.
