John Abraham was spotted on the sets of Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming film, reportedly inspired by the life of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. The project marks the first collaboration between the actor and the director.
Exclusive photos from the Mumbai shoot, obtained by Zoom, show John Abraham in full police regalia. Sporting a moustache and a rugged look, his muscular physique and intense on-screen presence promise a captivating performance. The BTS images capture the actor immersed in his role, hinting at a film that blends action with a biographical narrative.

John has previously portrayed law enforcement characters in films like Batla House (2019) and the Force series. In this latest venture, he will take on the lead role in a biographical
thriller exploring Commissioner Rakesh Maria’s career, known for handling some of Mumbai’s most high-profile cases.
The movie is currently being shot across South Mumbai and Mira Road, with earlier sequences filmed at landmark locations including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dongri, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.
An earlier report by Mid-Day suggested that Rohit Shetty and John Abraham have kicked off the second leg of the shoot. A 65-day plan is on the cards to film across real locations in Mumbai and Wai. “Rohit wants the film to feel real. Shooting at locations across the city will bring that raw energy,” a source close to the production told the portal.
The source further added, “For now, we’re focusing on all the indoor scenes. After the monsoon subsides, a large set will be built for the major action sequences. The plan is to shoot non-stop until September-end, when Rohit will call it a wrap on the film.”
Rakesh Maria gained recognition for solving major cases. Apart from handling the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Rakesh Maria also led many other high-profile investigations. These include the 2003 twin blasts in Mumbai, the shocking Neeraj Grover murder case, the Pune German Bakery blast, the 2011 Mumbai bombings, and the Sheena Bora murder case.
He is also an author, having penned Let Me Say It Now, and reportedly plans to release another book in the near future.
