Star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has set his sights on winning Test series with Australia in India, South Africa, and England. The Australian men’s cricket team is set to tour South Africa in October 2026 for a three-match Test series, India in early 2027 for a five-match Test series, and England from June to August 2027 for the Ashes.
Hazlewood has enjoyed tremendous success with Australia since making his international debut in 2010, but he is yet to win a Test series in India, South Africa, or England. Ahead of his long-awaited return to Australia’s Test side, Hazlewood said the prospect of achieving success in challenging overseas conditions remains a major source of motivation.
“This group’s been together for quite a long time now – the majority
of it, anyway – and the big series are obviously England and India,” Hazlewood said on Thursday.
“I haven’t won in South Africa either, so there’s three that are coming up… a few boxes to tick off there for not just me, but this whole playing group.”
“That’s been a driving factor during this preparation, in the back of your head, and even in the months leading into it. They’re some really big Test series, and they’re all away from home, so it’ll be tough competition. Hopefully, we get the job done,” he added.
Hazlewood is preparing to play his first Test for Australia in more than a year when they take on Bangladesh in August. His return to the playing XI is likely to force Scott Boland out of the side.
“I think (Boland and I have) only played one game together – at Edgbaston (in the 2023 Ashes) – and I’d love to play more with Scotty,” Hazlewood said.
“We’re obviously a little bit similar, but I think there are still a lot of differences in our bowling.”
