Shiv Thakare confirmed on Tuesday that a short-circuit triggered the fire at his apartment in Mumbai’s Goregaon, assuring fans that the situation had been contained. The incident, which caused significant
damage to his living room, came to light after videos of the blaze and the fire brigade’s response began circulating online.
In a message shared on Instagram Stories, the reality show star wrote, “Due to short circuit my living room caught fire but now everything is under control. Thank you so much for your care and concern. Bappa ke kripa se I am safe and completely fine. Nothing has happened to me. Ganapati Bappa Maurya.”
A source close to the actor told HT that Thakare was in his bedroom when the fire started in the drawing room of his 12th-floor flat. The source added, “There was a short-circuit at his place… It’s the building authorities fault completely.”
The person further claimed that repeated complaints about electrical issues had not been addressed. “The building which (Kolte Patil Verve, Goregaon) Shiv has been staying in, has been facing electrical issues for quite some time now… nothing was functioning properly – from the water sprinkler to the fire alarm. The only good thing is that Shiv wasn’t in the area that caught fire,” the source said, noting that Thakare was safe but visibly shaken.
Thakare’s team had earlier issued a statement confirming the incident, saying, “@shivthakare9 faced a mishap this morning as there was a fire breakout at his Mumbai residence in the Kolte Patil Verve building. The actor has not incurred any injury, but the house faced the brunt!”
The Bigg Boss Marathi winner had returned to Mumbai only a day earlier, sharing a photo from the airport captioned, “Back to Mumbai.”
Thakare, who grew up in a small town in Maharashtra, has built a prominent presence on Indian television through shows such as Roadies, Bigg Boss (Marathi and Hindi), Khatron Ke Khiladi and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. In a recent interview about his personal life, he said, “Kuch cheezein private rakhni mujhe bahut pasand hai. Baaki aap decide kar lo, par main khush hoon… Even if I end up forming a bond with someone and I genuinely like them, I’d still prefer to keep it private.”
Most recently, he appeared in the music video Rajj Rajj Nachan, featuring Rashami Desai, set against a festive pre-wedding backdrop.
