After Farah Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Karan Johar have penned a long note praising Haq and especially Yami Gautam’s performance in the film. As the industry heaps praise on Yami Gautam and the film, an old
video of the actress has resurfaced, where she spoke about feeling unwelcome in the industry.
In an old interview of Yami with Bharadwaj Rangan, Yami shared, “There have been times when you felt unwelcomed, when you felt you are not a part of this. And no one has to tell you this, that one look is enough, you can read it that you know you are not there yet, but then I think my family… It’s a very emotional thing for me, not because of the journey, but because I feel very blessed to have the family that I have.”
When #YamiGautam spoke about her struggle for acceptance in Bollywood — despite delivering one solid performance after another — it hit hard.
That brief choke in her voice said what words couldn’t.
The pain of being overlooked.
The exhaustion of having to prove yourself again… pic.twitter.com/eTYDhH3qQg— BollyGupp (@BollyGup) January 11, 2026
“I think if they were not there, then it would have been difficult. One phone call to my mom, sister, or Aditya… and we both share the same value system. If I am not social, he’s not social on another level. They say what you are seeking out there and you get it, and for me, that is Aditya,” she added while speaking about how her husband, Aditya Dhar, helped her during tough times.
Industry Reacts to Haq
Impressed by the film and the actor’s performance, Farah Khan penned, “Yami Gautam, get ready to receive every award! Outstanding performance.” She also lauded Emraan Hashmi, adding, “Your best to date.”
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Alia Bhatt shared the poster of the film featuring Yami Gautam and wrote, “Queen Yami, you are pure craft, heart, and all things gold in Haq. One of my top female performances of all time… As I mentioned over the phone too… I am a Yami fan, waiting eagerly for all your work to once again charm and entertain us all.”
Karan Johar lauded Yami’s performance in the film, saying, “I don’t think I have been this moved by a performance in many, many years… To say that @yamigautam is brilliant, outstanding, pathbreaking is still not saying enough…. Her silences, her stares, her last monologue, and her stance throughout the film are a masterclass of craft and conviction…. Salute and salaam to her!”
