Delhi's Kartavya Path Closed As R-Day Parade Rehearsals Begin | Check Diversions, Alternate Routes

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory as rehearsals for the Republic Day Parade are scheduled on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on 17th, 19th, 20th, and 21st January 2026.

The parade route will run up to ‘C’ Hexagon. Traffic will be restricted at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg, Kartavya Path-Janpath, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road, and Kartavya Path-C-Hexagon crossings between 10:15 am and 12:30 pm on these days. Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate will also remain closed.

Motorists are advised to follow alternate routes, including Ring Road, Lajpat Rai Marg, Mathura Road, Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Attaturk Marg, and Vande Matram Marg, depending on their direction of travel. Commuters are urged to exercise patience,

adhere to traffic rules, and follow directions from Traffic Police personnel deployed across intersections.

Meanwhile, Airspace curbs will be in place at the Delhi airport on January 26 and 29 in relation to the Republic Day celebrations.

According to an official, non-scheduled flights will not be allowed to take off or land at the airport from 8.30 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm on January 26.

On January 29, when the Beating the Retreat ceremony takes place, the airspace restrictions will be in force from 3 pm to 7 pm, the official added.
