Weddings in India have always been a grand affair. Families spend months planning every detail, from clothes and food to music and rituals. Each event is filled with colour, dancing and celebrations that
bring everyone together. No matter the region, weddings are known for their bright decorations and joyful traditions.
In recent years, couples have been getting more creative with their wedding events. Instead of sticking to the usual format, many are choosing unique themes and storytelling-style celebrations. One such example is a Vrindavan-themed haldi ceremony that grabbed attention for its magical boat entry and underwater-inspired setup.
The theme was designed by choreographer and Guinness World Record holder Sumit Khetan, who says couples today want more personalised and memorable experiences.

Haldi Ceremony Turns Into Magical Vrindavan Experience
The video opens with the bride and groom making a dramatic entry as dancers perform in the water. A woman’s voiceover sets the tone of the clip, saying this scene looks like a moment from a fairy tale and shows an underwater-themed haldi that has taken the internet by surprise.
In the next part of the video, choreographer Sumit Khetan appears and explains the idea behind the setup. “As we mentioned with the entry, just like Krishna crossed the Yamuna from Mathura to Gokul, we also treated the property’s swimming pool as the Yamuna River,” he tells Aaj Tak.
The voiceover comes in again, explaining that the whole event was based on a Vrindavan-style theme. This was followed by a Phoolon ki Holi-style haldi ceremony.
In the clip, which has received millions of views, the couple is seen gliding across the pool on floating boats designed to look like they are drifting on the Yamuna. The concept was created by Sumit Khetan, a luxury wedding choreographer and artistic director known for designing large-scale themes. He also holds a Guinness World Record for unique wedding performances.
Khetan appears again in the video and adds, “I had the opportunity to choreograph PM Modi ji’s entry, and at the same event, we set a Guinness World Record for 551 girls exchanging garlands within sixty seconds.”
