Gurugram, Jun 29 (PTI) With the arrest of seven persons, the Gurugram Police has busted a gang of burglars involved in breaking locks and shutters of houses and shops, officials said on Monday.
The gang members had recently broken open the shutter of a medical store and stolen money from the cash counter, they said, adding that a total of 69 cases are registered against them.
The owner of the medical store got a complaint lodged at the Farrukhnagar police station on June 25, stating that on the night of June 24, unidentified persons broke open the shutter of the shop located on Wazirpur Road, Sultanpur Mor, and stole approximately Rs 20,000 from the cash counter.
A case was registered based on the complaint and a probe launched.
During the investigation,
the Farrukhnagar Crime Branch arrested seven accused from Khera Jhajharola village on Sunday. The accused were identified as Tarul, a resident of Delhi’s Sultanpuri, Sonu, a resident of Delhi’s Shahbad Daulatpur, Merajul Diwan, a resident of Bawana, Delhi, Sanjeet alias Kali, a resident of Shahbad Dairy, Delhi, Mandeep alias Scooty, a resident of Shahbad Daulatpur, Prahlad Kumar alias Raj Kumar alias Mota and Sagar alias Suraj, both residents of Sector-26, Rohini, Delhi.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused are members of an organised burglary gang and habitual offenders. They used to conduct reconnaissance of houses and shops to ensure that no one was present.
Thereafter, at night, they used to break the locks of the houses or the shutters of the shops and steal cash and other valuables, police said.
“The accused also confessed to committing five other thefts in Gurugram and one theft in Delhi. Records revealed that there are 15 cases against Tarul related to theft, housebreaking, robbery and under the Arms Act, seven against Mandeep alias Scooty related to theft and housebreaking, two against Prahlad Kumar alias Mota under the Arms Act and 45 against Sagar alias Suraj, including for theft, housebreaking, robbery, and Arms Act offences, registered in Delhi.
“We are questioning the accused. Efforts are also on to recover the stolen cash and other stolen property and arrest the other members of the gang,” a senior police officer said. PTI COR RC
