Jhansi, May 31 (PTI) Jhansi police on Sunday arrested four people for allegedly assaulting and robbing a PRD jawan of Rs 1,700, a police official said.
SHO of Navabad police station Ravi Srivastava said that on Friday evening, PRD jawan Dayashankar Verma was returning from duty and was stopped by Prashant Verma alias Golu Verma, his brother Rishabh, and others.
A PRD jawan (Prantiya Rakshak Dal volunteer) assists state police in traffic management and crowd control at fairs and pilgrimages.
“The group picked a quarrel over interest payments on a loan and, while physically assaulting him, snatched Rs 1,700 from him,” the SHO said.
Police said a complaint was lodged against the four accused under relevant sections of the BNS on Saturday evening.
On
Sunday, police arrested people involved in the incident, including the two named accused (Prashant and his brother Rishabh), as well as Mohit Amariya and Anil Verma and sent them to jail.
Police said the stolen money has also been recovered from the accused.
