Jana Nayagan Tickets Being Sold Illegally At High Price? Fans Urge CM Vijay To Take Action

Hours ahead of Jana Nayagan’s release, a major controversy has erupted with fans alleging that some theatres in Tamil Nadu are charging ticket prices above the government-mandated cap of ₹190. The claims have sparked heated debates online, with many urging actor-politician and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to take action against the alleged violations.

It all started after a video, allegedly from the Namakkal district, went viral on social media, showing an argument between moviegoers and theatre management over ticket prices. Fans alleged that tickets were being sold for ₹300, despite the state’s prescribed maximum ticket price of ₹190. “Who has allowed you to sell tickets at ₹300?” one of the fans said in the video. “Call up the CM’s office

and ask if you can sell it for ₹300,” added another.

However, theatre representatives denied the allegations and reportedly claimed that some fans were purchasing tickets only to resell them at inflated prices of up to ₹1,000 in the black market.

The video has triggered strong reactions on social media, with many fans tagging Vijay and asking him to ensure strict enforcement of the government’s pricing rules. “The government fixed the ticket price at ₹190. How are theatres collecting more? Please take action,” one of the X users wrote. “Let us report this corruption to our CMO’s whatsapp number. Imagine if they can do this for his own movies, what all they will do for things where he isn’t a part of,” wrote another.

For the unversed, Jana Nayagan is Vijay’s last movie. The film was initially scheduled to hit theatres on January 9, 2026. However, it was then postponed due to certification issues. The film was referred to a Revising Committee following complaints alleging that certain scenes portrayed religious sentiments and the armed forces in an objectionable manner. The film was granted an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate earlier this month. Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan will now hit theatres on July 23, 2026.
