The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 turned into yet another chapter of India’s dominance on Sunday, October 5. The Indian women’s team extended their
unbroken winning streak against Pakistan to 12 consecutive ODIs, defeating their arch-rivals by 88 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 247 runs, driven by steady contributions from Harleen Deol (43) and Richa Ghosh (35). In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for just 159 runs in 43 overs, with Deepti Sharma and Kranti Gaur dismantling the lineup with three wickets each.
However, the match was not without drama. A tense moment unfolded during Pakistan’s innings when all-rounder Deepti Sharma’s fiery throw struck batter Sidra Ameen on the right foot. The incident occurred in the 34th over, when Ameen attempted a quick single after tapping the ball towards cover. Deepti fielded swiftly and threw towards the non-striker’s end, but the ball struck Ameen mid-run.

Following the impact, Ameen looked back at Deepti, seemingly expecting an apology. Instead, Deepti glared at the Pakistani batter, sparking a brief but charged exchange of looks between the two. The umpire stepped in to diffuse the situation, speaking briefly to the Indian player. However, Deepti stood her ground and reportedly questioned why Ameen had stepped into her throwing line.
The matter did not escalate further, but the incident quickly became a talking point on social media. Fans hailed Deepti’s fierce competitive spirit, with one user posting, “Bow down to the throw goddess, Deepti Sharma forever!”
Despite the on-field tension, India’s clinical performance ensured another commanding victory over Pakistan in the women’s format, reinforcing their supremacy in the subcontinental rivalry on the world stage.
