The Punjab government on Thursday said beneficiaries of the Mukhmantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana have increasingly taken to social media to share videos, songs and humorous reels inspired by the welfare scheme, turning it into a widely discussed online topic.
According to the government, women beneficiaries have been posting short videos featuring dance performances, lip-syncs, comedy sketches and personal stories built around the scheme, often using the now-familiar mobile notification sound that has become associated with the transfer of benefits.
Officials said the content is largely being created by beneficiaries themselves using popular Punjabi songs, trending reel formats and local dialects, helping introduce the scheme to wider audiences
through social media sharing.
Among the most frequently used audio clips are songs beginning with the lines “Tun Tun baje… Tun Tun baje…”, while other creators have posted videos imagining how they would spend the financial assistance received under the scheme.
The online trend has also prompted humorous responses from men, with several creators posting parody videos and songs jokingly asking why the benefit is limited to women.
According to the government, the growing number of user-generated videos has helped spread awareness about the scheme beyond official publicity campaigns by encouraging beneficiaries to share their own experiences.
Officials said the response also highlights the increasing role of short-form video platforms in public communication, where citizens often discuss government initiatives through humour, music and storytelling.
The government said the participation of beneficiaries has helped sustain conversations around the scheme online, reflecting what it described as a new way in which welfare initiatives are being discussed through social media.
