Former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi named Virat Kohli as India’s best batter ever, ahead of the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev.
In an interaction with former English skipper Michael Vaughan, Modi opined that the RCB star batter is the greatest ever Indian to pick up the willow.
“Right, let’s finish with these quickfire questions. Greatest ever player for India?” Vaughan quizzed Modi.
“Virat Kohli,” Modi said without a second thought.
“Virat Kohli. Not Sachin? Not MS? Not Kapil Dev?” asked the intrigued former English skipper.
“Virat,” Modi reiterated.
Kohli has served as the poster boy for Indian cricket in the past decade, and has been the pin-up batter for IPL holders Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who put an end to an 18-year- title drought last
year out as Kohli got his hands on his maiden IPL crown.
The star Indian batter has managed to amass a mammoth 14,797 runs in 311 ODI outings for the tricolour, in addition to his 9230 runs in 123 games in Test whites for the nation.
Kohli has also scored 4188 runs in the shortest format of the game, T20Is, for India and is the all-time leading run scorer in the history of the money-rich franchise T20 league, IPL, with 8889 runs in 272 games for the RCB.
