Latur, Aug 29 (PTI) Local police arrested two men within 24 hours after they allegedly assaulted a truck driver with a knife and robbed him of cash and a mobile phone in Latur, officials said on Saturday.
The police have recovered cash and the victim’s mobile phone valued at around Rs 25,000, besides seizing a motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. One more accused is still absconding.
The incident occurred on August 27 afternoon when complainant Irfan Farukh Patel had stopped his truck on the service road between Shahu Junior College and the scrap market.
Three unidentified men allegedly placed their motorcycle in front of the truck, entered its cabin and attacked Patel with kicks and punches. They allegedly threatened and assaulted him with a knife
and a screwdriver before forcibly taking Rs 20,000 in cash and his mobile phone, police said.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Yashpal Digambar Aute (20) and Devendra Shivram Salgar (25). Another accused, identified as Yogesh Lokhande (34), is on the run. PTI COR NSK
