Cyclone Murasu: Chandrababu Naidu Reviews Situation
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a teleconference with district collectors and senior officials at around 3.30 am on Tuesday to assess the situation and review the precautionary measures taken in cyclone-affected areas.
Officials informed him that the cyclone was expected to complete its passage across the coast by 6.30 am. The Chief Minister directed the district administrations to ensure that people did not venture onto roads while the storm was active. He also called for all necessary steps to prevent loss of life and minimise damage to property.
Chandrababu Naidu specifically sought an update on electricity infrastructure, including power poles and substations. Energy department officials told him that no electricity poles had fallen and that power supply remained uninterrupted across the affected areas.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure that people stayed away from roads until fallen trees and other obstructions had been cleared. Referring to fatalities caused by people coming into contact with fallen live wires during the previous Cyclone Arnab, he stressed the need for strict precautions to prevent similar incidents.

In Nellore, Collector Himanshu Shukla said seven uprooted trees had been removed, while moderate rainfall continued in the district. Prakasam Collector P Raja Babu reported that officials had responded to fallen trees at five locations.

However, as a precaution against possible landslides in Mogalrajpuram, some families had been moved to relief camps.
Despite reports of hundreds of trees being uprooted across Nellore, Prakasam and Bapatla, electricity department officials said power infrastructure had so far withstood the storm, with no reported disruption to supply.
Andhra Pradesh Schools Closed In 8 Districts Due To Cyclone Murasu
Educational institutions in eight Andhra Pradesh districts remained closed on Tuesday as a precaution against heavy rainfall and strong winds associated with Cyclone Murasu, as reported by The Times of India. The districts that announced holidays are NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore and Markapuram. The respective district administrations issued the orders in view of the expected heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and the potential risks to students travelling to and from educational institutions.
In NTR district, Collector G Lakshmisha announced a holiday for government and private schools, junior colleges, degree colleges and Anganwadi centres. He directed institutions to follow the order and warned that action would be taken against those found violating it.
The administrations in Nellore and Prakasam also declared holidays for government, private and aided schools, Anganwadi centres and junior colleges. Palnadu district likewise ordered the closure of educational institutions.
The holiday announcements are district-specific and do not amount to a statewide closure order. Students and parents have been advised to follow updates issued by their respective district administrations and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
Cyclone Murasu: Control Rooms And Emergency Teams On Standby
District administrations have activated control rooms and kept emergency response teams ready to deal with incidents arising from the cyclone. Officials are monitoring rainfall, waterlogging and possible damage to infrastructure, while clearing fallen trees and other obstructions.
During the review, collectors also informed the Chief Minister that arrangements were being made to conduct counting of votes in the local body elections alongside cyclone relief operations.
With the landfall process expected to continue into Tuesday morning, authorities have urged residents in affected areas to remain indoors, stay away from waterlogged locations and follow official safety instructions.
