Danish Pandor, who essays the role of gangster Uzair Baloch in Dhurandhar, has weighed in on Hrithik Roshan’s recent comments about the film. The War actor had admitted to feeling uneasy about the political
undertones of the project. Responding to this, Danish acknowledged that such reactions vary from person to person but emphasised that Dhurandhar was built on extensive research rather than provocation. He also spoke at length about Ranveer Singh’s powerful portrayal in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks sequence, calling it one of the film’s most emotionally charged moments.
‘Dhurandhar Is Rooted In Research’
Speaking to India TV, Danish stressed that cinema, especially politically layered cinema, will always invite subjective reactions. “This is very subjective. There are some things that you would prefer, and I wouldn’t and vice versa,” he said. Addressing the political aspects head-on, he added that the film does not fictionalise history irresponsibly.
“As far as the political aspect goes, these are all research things. Even if you take into consideration the 26/11 attack, you can’t deny that. It had happened, and the voice notes of handlers and terrorists were there on the screen,” Danish explained, noting how those details instantly provoke a visceral response. “It literally gives you goosebumps, and at the same time, disheartens you as a person… what exactly have they done.”
The 26/11 Sequence And Its Emotional Impact
Danish went on to explain why the depiction of the 26/11 attacks hits so hard. He recalled how the film recreates not just the events but the emotional helplessness surrounding them. “There were so many hostages inside. When everything was happening through the media perspective, we couldn’t realise what those people were going through,” he said.
He pointed out that a single voice note used in the film becomes a turning point for viewers. “Just that voice note which has been portrayed on screen makes you empathise immediately. You start wondering, what if you were there at that point of time? Empathising is very important.”
‘I Hugged Ranveer After That Scene’
In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh plays Hamza, an Indian spy operating deep inside Karachi. Danish recalled witnessing Ranveer perform a pivotal scene where Hamza realises the truth behind the 26/11 terror attack.
“I was watching Ranveer on the monitor, and the moment the shot got over, I went to him and gave him a tight hug,” Danish shared. “The way he transitioned emotionally throughout the scene was incredible.”
He elaborated on the silent devastation Ranveer conveyed through his eyes. “There’s this feeling that we could have saved it, we could have avoided this attack. That guilt, that helplessness—it was all there without him saying a word. All these emotions were clearly shown in his eyes. He played it so beautifully.”
Praise For Ranveer Singh’s Work Ethic
Beyond performance, Danish also lauded Ranveer Singh’s approach as an actor. Calling him secure and selfless, he said, “Ranveer is very passionate. He is so secure that his only motivation is to lift the scene up and make the movie beautiful.”
He added that working alongside Ranveer is inspiring. “As a superstar, you have so many things to cater to, but he concentrates on his craft. He works day in and day out, and that’s something all of us need to learn from him.”
On The Middle East Ban And Missed Box Office Potential
Danish also addressed reports of Dhurandhar not releasing in several Middle Eastern countries. While admitting he is unaware of the exact reasons, he believes the film deserves a wider release.
“It should release, that’s what I believe,” he said. “If the market was open there as well, it would have been extremely big. I hope it will be released soon.”
With debates around its themes continuing, Dhurandhar remains a film that has sparked discussion—something Danish believes is inevitable when cinema confronts uncomfortable realities.
