Sonarika Bhadoria has called out the relentless scrutiny women face over their bodies after childbirth, at a time when Katrina Kaif has been subjected to comments about her appearance following a recent public outing. The Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev actress shared a strongly worded note on Instagram, asking people to stop treating a mother’s changing body as something that needs to be judged, explained or corrected.
While Sonarika did not directly name Katrina in her post, she made it clear that her message went beyond one celebrity or one instance of online trolling. “This isn’t just about Katrina. It’s about every mother judged while her body is still healing,” she wrote.
Sonarika Bhadoria Calls Out Comments On Postpartum Bodies
Sonarika questioned
why women are expected to look a certain way soon after giving birth, pointing out that pregnancy and childbirth put the body through enormous physical changes.
“Her body grew, carried and delivered a human being. It doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for what it looks like afterwards,” she wrote.
The actress also pushed back against the pressure on new mothers to quickly lose weight or return to their pre-pregnancy appearance. According to Sonarika, women should not have to “shrink, change, or apologise” for the physical evidence of pregnancy and childbirth.
“Your postpartum body is not your shame, it is your story, your strength, your proof,” she added.
Her note addressed several changes that can follow childbirth, including stretch marks, a softer stomach, changes in breasts, hair loss and exhaustion. Sonarika argued that these visible changes are often picked apart without any consideration for what a woman’s body has actually endured during pregnancy, delivery and recovery.
‘A Postpartum Body Is Not A Failed Version Of A Woman’s Old Body’
Sonarika further described the scrutiny of mothers after childbirth as “deeply cruel”. She stressed that a woman’s postpartum body should not be treated as an inferior version of how she looked before pregnancy.
She urged people to reconsider casual remarks about a new mother’s weight, shape or appearance, particularly at a time when her body may still be recovering.
“You are simple carrying proof of a chapter that cost you more than anyone will ever fully understand,” Sonarika wrote.
Addressing mothers directly, she reminded them that their bodies are “not ruined” and wrote, “You are a mother. You are powerful. You are worthy.”
She concluded her message with a wider appeal for greater compassion towards women after childbirth, saying society needs to stop teaching mothers to dislike the very bodies that carried their children.
Katrina Kaif Faced Trolling After Recent Appearance
Sonarika’s post comes amid online discussion around Katrina Kaif’s recent appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Antilia in Mumbai. Katrina attended the festivities with her husband, Vicky Kaushal, in what was among her first prominent public appearances in months.
The actress welcomed her first child with Vicky in November 2025. Following photographs and videos from the Ganesh Chaturthi gathering surfacing online, some social media users began commenting on Katrina’s postpartum appearance.
