The crash occurred around 11:30 pm near Devdi Pati village, under the jurisdiction of the Mohol police station.
An Ertiga car, travelling from Panvel to Akkalkot for temple darshan, went out of the driver’s control and rammed into a roadside tree. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely damaged.
All five occupants, who were reportedly friends travelling together in the car, died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.
On receiving information, Mohol police officials and staff immediately reached the spot.
The bodies were found trapped inside the wrecked vehicle, which had been thrown nearly
10 to 15 feet off the road into nearby bushes, highlighting the intensity of the crash.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and to gather further details about the victims.
Last year, five people from Telangana were killed after their car went out of control on the same stretch of the Pune-Solapur Highway in Maharashtra.
The crash occurred near Dalaj village under the Bhigwan police station limits.
According to the police, six people were travelling from Mumbai to Telangana when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. Five occupants died on the spot, while one person survived the tragedy.
