Chahal Makes Special Request To PBKS Owner Preity Zinta: 'Ek Match Mein...'

Yuzvendra Chahal, who is the highest wicket-taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, has made a special request to Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta on Monday, April 27, ahead of PBKS IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals in New Chandigarh. While replying to Zinta’s post on X, Chahal requested her to give him an opportunity to open the innings for the franchise in one of the upcoming matches.

“Mam ek match mein open batting karne ka chance mil jaaye toh,” Chahal tweeted.

After Chahal’s comment on Zinta’s tweet went viral on the internet, she took note of it and came up with an epic reply which is also going viral now.

The Bollywood actress wrote, “For sure Yuzi. Anything for you. IPL Khatam hone do, uske baad whichever match you like. I’m

sure Prabh & Priyansh won’t mind then.”

Uncapped Indian batters Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya are playing as openers for Punjab Kings in IPL 2026 and have impressed with their batting performances. In PBKS’ last match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season, which was played against Delhi Capitals on April 24, they added 126 runs in just 6.5 overs for Shreyas Iyer’s men.

In IPL 2026, Prabhsimran has amassed a total of 287 runs in six innings of seven matches (strike rate 192.61) for the Punjab-based franchise, and Priyansh has scored 254 runs in six matches with a strike rate of 249.01.

In Preity’s X post, a fan also asked her to list one thing about Ricky Ponting’s coaching style that stands out to her, and she replied by saying that the former Australian captain is loving, aggressive, strategic and very inclusive and accessible to all players.

“He is loving, very inclusive & accessible to all players, aggressive, strategic, and a badass,” Preity tweeted.

She also picked Ponting as her favourite non-PBKS player and credited him for making a great team for PBKS this season (IPL 2026).

“Thank you, but most of the work was done by @RickyPonting by choosing the right Captain & team ! Gotta give credit where it’s due,” Preity wrote.

When asked about her experience with PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, Preity stated, “He (Iyer) is an inspiring & strategic leader that leads by example. Intelligent, calm , inclusive & accessible to the whole team. On a fun note he is also incredible with kids that’s why my kids lovingly call him Shreyas Bhaiya and adore him.”
