Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues its impressive run at the box office, having sailed past the Rs 100-crore mark in its opening week. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the espionage thriller has earned widespread
acclaim for its gripping narrative, compelling action sequences, and strong ensemble performances. Among the many cast members receiving praise is Saumya Tandon, who plays Ulfat, the wife of Rehman Dakait, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna. Despite her limited screen time, audiences have showered her with appreciation for leaving a lasting impact.
On Thursday, Saumya took to social media to thank viewers for embracing her performance. Sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram, she wrote, “It’s absolutely overwhelming to receive so much love and appreciation for my part in #Dhurandhar. It wasn’t a long screen time, but so many of you told me the character made an impact, and that truly means the world to me.”
She further credited the team behind the film, adding, “All credit to the incredible @AdityaDharFilms. Thank you for making me a part of Dhurandhar, you created magic. Actress Applauds Dhurandhar for Respectful Portrayal of Women
Earlier, Saumya had praised Dhurandhar for showcasing women respectfully, even in a male-dominated world. She wrote, “In the universe Dhurandhar is set in… the women are treated with dignity. They aren’t beaten, objectified, or shown as one of many wives… it’s important to remember we’re dealing with a very different world.”
Addressing comparisons to other spy franchises, she clarified that her remarks were not aimed at anyone. “And I’m not taking a jab at anyone at all… this film simply didn’t have that grain or need.”
About Dhurandhar
The film follows Hamza Ali Mazari, who infiltrates Pakistan’s underworld by joining Rehman Dakait’s gang. His marriage to a powerful politician’s daughter becomes part of his covert mission as an undercover Indian operative. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has already confirmed its sequel for March 19, 2026.
