A major security breach hit the Argentinian camp at the FIFA World Cup 2026, with players’ passport details reportedly leaked. The sensitive information was allegedly circulated on an official team sheet handed to the media before their pre-World Cup friendly against Iceland, without being properly redacted.

As reported by The Independent, the team sheet distributed to the media carried the players’ passport numbers. The information, which was supposed to be blurred, was shared officially at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Alabama without redaction. The sheet also included information about players listed for the fixture, both the starting XI and substitutes.

Despite the off-field controversy, Argentina delivered a commanding display, cruising to a 3-0

win over Iceland in their final warm-up fixture ahead of the tournament. The match also marked Lionel Messi’s return from a hamstring injury. The 38-year-old began on the bench but made an immediate impact after coming on in the second half.

Within two minutes of his introduction, Messi was on the scoresheet. After Lautaro Martinez was brought down in the box following a precise through-ball from the Argentine captain, Messi stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to double Argentina’s lead.
