Batting superstar Virat Kohli entered his name in the history books on Monday, April 27, by becoming the first player in the world to score 9000 runs in the IPL. Kohli, who is playing his 275th IPL match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday, needed 11 runs against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi to complete 9000 runs in the IPL. And he achieved the deal by taking a single on the sixth ball of the sixth over of the RCB innings in the 76-run chase. He needed 6732 balls to reach the 9000-run mark in IPL.
In the list of batters with most runs in the IPL, Kohli is followed by Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and KL Rahul.
While Rohit has scored 7183 runs in 276 IPL matches for two teams (Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians),
Dhawan finished his IPL career with 6769 runs in 222 IPL matches. He played for five teams – the Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings – from 2008 to 2024.

Whereas Rahul, who got out for 1 run on Monday, has 5580 IPL runs to his credit in 153 matches for five teams.
