South Africa‘s wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock completed one catch in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match played between South Africa and New Zealand on Saturday (February 14). The catch of Kiwi opener Tim Seifert on the second ball of the fourth over of New Zealand’s innings bowled by Marco Jansen in the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad helped De Kock break Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record of most dismissals in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Dhoni played 33 T20 World Cup matches for the Indian team from 2007 to 2016 and completed 32 dismissals, which included 21 catches and 11 stumpings. On the other hand, by taking Seifert’s catch, De Kock has extended his tally of dismissals to 33 in 30 T20 World Cup matches for South
Africa.
De Kock has completed 26 catches as wicketkeeper in the T20 World Cup for South Africa in addition to seven stumpings.

In the second half of the New Zealand-South Africa match, De Kock scored 20 runs from 14 balls for the Aiden Markram-led side in the 176-run chase. De Kock opened his account by scoring a four on the fifth ball of the first over of South Africa’s innings bowled by Matt Henry. The four off Henry’s bowling helped De Kock extend his tally of runs to 3002 in T20Is.
De Kock is the first cricketer from South Africa to score 3000 runs in T20Is. In the list of batters with the most runs in T20Is for South Africa, de Kock is followed by David Miller and Reeza Hendricks, who have 2672 and 2504 runs, respectively, to their credit.
