Sai Pallavi Felt 'Miscast' In Junaid Khan's Ek Din, Told Aamir Khan 'Don't Think I Was Meant To Do This'

Sai Pallavi is currently seen in Ek Din alongside Junaid Khan. Backed by Aamir Khan, the film marked her Bollywood debut ahead of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, in which she plays Sita alongside Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram. Largely, Ek Din has received an underwhelming response, and now Sai Pallavi has revealed that she initially thought she was miscast in the film.

In a promotional video for Ek Din, Sai Pallavi revealed that Aamir Khan backing the project played a huge role in her onboarding. However, at first, she felt she was miscast. She told Aamir Khan at a premiere, “I don’t think I was meant to do this, and I think I am miscast. I feel so, I think it should have been a new person who had a little bit of flamboyance.”

Junaid Khan disagreed with Sai’s

notion, and she was meant to do this role. Sai also revealed why she finally agreed to sign the film: “It is not about the scale of a film that drives me. At that point of time in my life, I had done a lot of films which were heavy, and I wanted to do something that was light…”

“…that did not have me carry a lot of trauma through the making and even after. So when the script came along, I thought this was going to be in the zone of Before Sunrise. Because I like Before Sunrise, and I thought this was going to be like that,” the actress said. The Hollywood film Before Sunrise stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

Meanwhile, News18 Showsha gave the film 2 stars. “An artist of the calibre of Sai truly deserved a better Bollywood debut. The writing is so bland that Meera becomes one of her weakest performances till date. At some point, Dinesh describes Meera as ‘Apple ke tarah exclusive aur Android ke tarah har jagah sync hone waali.’ But you realise that these are just words with no evidence to prove what makes her a cut above the rest,” an excerpt from our review read.
