Petrol, Diesel Price Hike: Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by nearly a rupee across major Indian cities on May 23, with Hyderabad continuing to have the most expensive fuel among key metros, while Chandigarh remained the cheapest place to buy both petrol and diesel.
According to the latest price revision, petrol prices rose by up to 97 paise per litre, while diesel rates increased by as much as 99 paise per litre in some cities.
Among major cities, Hyderabad recorded the highest petrol price at Rs 112.81 per litre after a 97-paise hike. Thiruvananthapuram followed closely with petrol at Rs 112.64 per litre, while Kolkata and Patna also remained above the Rs 110 mark.
On the other hand, Chandigarh had the cheapest petrol among the listed cities
at Rs 98.97 per litre despite an 87-paise increase. Lucknow sold petrol at Rs 99.26 per litre, while New Delhi and Noida were priced at Rs 99.51 per litre each.

In the diesel segment too, Hyderabad topped the chart with diesel retailing at Rs 100.94 per litre after a 99-paise increase. Thiruvananthapuram was the second costliest city at Rs 101.55 per litre. Bhubaneswar and Kolkata also saw diesel prices nearing Rs 98 per litre.
Chandigarh continued to offer the cheapest diesel at Rs 86.94 per litre, significantly lower than most other major cities. Noida sold diesel at Rs 91.93 per litre, while New Delhi rates stood at Rs 92.49 per litre.
