Rasha Thadani, who has been one of the most closely watched newcomers in Bollywood this year, has reportedly exited the upcoming romantic drama jointly helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery

and produced by Hansal Mehta.

According to reports, Rasha had been in advanced conversations for the project and was among the frontrunners for the film’s lead role. The actress was said to be enthusiastic about the script as well as the opportunity to collaborate with two celebrated filmmakers known for their distinct cinematic voices. However, despite initial interest, she eventually decided to step away.

Industry insiders reveal that the reason behind Rasha’s departure is largely scheduling-related. The shoot of her forthcoming film Laikey Laikaa has reportedly been delayed, causing a domino effect on her calendar. With the dates shifting significantly, the new timelines clashed directly with the schedule of Pellissery and Mehta’s romance project, making it impossible for her to commit without compromising on existing obligations.

The Hansal Mehta–Lijo Jose Pellissery collaboration was announced earlier this year and has generated considerable buzz, especially because the film is expected to feature music by the legendary A.R. Rahman. Casting for the male lead is still underway, with names like Vir Hirani and Zahan Kapoor being speculated, though nothing has been confirmed by the makers so far.

Despite walking away from this highly anticipated project, Rasha’s slate remains full. Beyond Laikey Laikaa, she is also gearing up for her South Indian film debut, reportedly opposite Jaya Krishna Ghattamaneni, nephew of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu — another major stepping stone in her career trajectory.

While fans may be disappointed that she won’t be a part of the Pellissery–Mehta drama, sources suggest her exit was purely logistical and not driven by creative differences. With her rising popularity and a series of upcoming projects, Rasha continues to stay firmly on the industry’s radar.
