Several tourists were left hanging nearly 120 feet above the ground at a private sky-dining facility in Anachal, Idukki district of Kerala, on Friday after a crane developed a technical fault. The visitors remained stranded for over one and a half hours.
Rescue teams arrived at the site and efforts to bring them down safely are under way.
The incident took place near Munnar, where a crane-operated dining platform under an adventure tourism initiative offers visitors an aerial dining experience. Introduced just a few months ago, the system can seat up to 16 people at a time, lifting them high above the valley for around half an hour as they dine with panoramic views.

Reportedly, the platform could not be lowered due to a mechanical fault believed to be related to the crane’s fuse. Fire and security personnel deployed from Munnar are currently working on alternative methods, including lowering individuals using ropes.
Rescue operations are underway as engineers work to restore the system and safely bring all stranded tourists and staff back to the ground.
