Global icon Priyanka Chopra never misses a chance to celebrate Indian legends and her latest Instagram story is proof. The actress shared a beautiful clip of veteran singer Asha Bhosle recounting her childhood memories and early love for music. In the video, she can be heard sharing how her musical journey began at home during her childhood days.
Asha Bhosle shared that as a child, she found joy in watching films, listening to songs and imitating her favourite singers. Recalling her early days, Asha said, “Since childhood, I had a habit of watching films, listening to songs, and imitating them. I tried to imitate the voice of a singer. Everyone had this habit at home, including me.”

Further in the interview, she went on to mention one of her earliest
inspirations, Carmen Miranda, a Portuguese-Brazilian singer popular for her high-energy performances and fruit-laden hats. Asha Bhosle said, “Let me tell you about an English singer named Carmen Miranda. She used to wear strange clothes, and there were fruits on her cap. My family is a classical singer, but when I used to sing this song at home, my mother used to think that I was imitating a ghost.”
When Asha Bhosle Praised Priyanka Chopra
The clip beautifully captured Asha’s passionate spirit and determination to leave a remarkable impact in the music industry, something that Priyanka seemed to admire deeply. Interestingly, this admiration goes both ways. Years ago, during her 83rd birthday celebration at the Timeless Asha concert, Asha Bhosle had herself praised Priyanka. The legendary singer said that Priyanka would be the perfect choice to play her on-screen.
“Priyanka Chopra would be the perfect choice to portray me as she is a singer. Being a singer, she can express a singer well,” Asha had said.
