MI’s previous highest successful run chase in an IPL match was 219 runs against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021 match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 1.

Rohit, who is MI’s highest run-getter in IPL history, faced 38 balls on Sunday, and during his stay at the crease, hammered 6 fours and 6 sixes. On the other hand, Rickelton smacked 4 fours and 8 sixes.
The knock of 81 runs by the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from South Africa, who was preferred over Quinton de Kock for MI’s season opener, also helped him leapfrog Ishan Kishan of Sunrisers Hyderabad and take No. 1 position in the list of batters with most runs in IPL 2026.
