Gurugram, Sep 4 (PTI) A couple riding a scooter died after being hit by a truck on Gurugram’s Pataudi bypass, with the accused driver abandoning the vehicle and fleeing the scene, police said on Friday.
Police have registered a case against the accused and launched a search, they said.
Akhilesh Kumar, a resident of Bhodakalan village, said in his complaint that on Thursday evening, he was returning home from Nanu Kala village with his parents. He was riding his bike, while his father, Ravinder Kumar, and mother Krishna Devi, were travelling on a scooter ahead.
Around 7.15 pm, near the Naya Gaon flyover on the Pataudi bypass, the scooter was being taken from the other side due to waterlogging on the road. Soon, a speeding canter coming from the front
hit the scooter.
His parents were seriously injured in the accident and were rushed to Pushpanjali Hospital in Rewari, where they were declared dead. The scooter was also badly damaged in the accident.
“We handed over the bodies of the couple to the family after a postmortem examination. We are trying to nab the accused driver”, a senior police officer said. PTI COR SHS
