A surprising love story from Sasaram, Bihar, took an unexpected turn when a father of four and a mother of three attempted to marry at the local registry office. Their plans were abruptly interrupted as relatives from both families arrived and began assaulting them with shoes and slippers right outside the office. The chaotic scene on the old GT Road forced police to step in and restore order.
According to reports, the couple fell in love despite their families being connected through their children’s arranged marriage. Even though the families hadn’t set a wedding date, the pair developed feelings for each other and went ahead with a temple wedding before attempting the court marriage.
In-laws Fall In Love Despite Family Ties
Dayashankar Ram,
from Dhanwa in the Shivsagar police area, had arranged his son’s marriage with Dharmshila Devi’s daughter from Dalmia Nagar, New Delhi. After the proposal was confirmed last year, Dayashankar and Dharmshila began communicating over mobile phones. Over time, they grew close and eventually fell in love.
Secret Marriage Leads To Court Drama
It is believed that the couple got secretly married in a temple and were heading to the Sasaram court to officially register their marriage. When their families found out, Dharmshila Devi’s husband, Sunil Ram, along with relatives of Dayashankar Ram, arrived at the registry office and caught them red-handed. This led to a heated argument between the two sides, which turned chaotic.
Amid the chaos, Dayashankar was badly beaten with slippers in the middle of the road. Once a crowd gathered, family members intervened and took the couple away to settle the dispute through a family panchayat.
Dayashankar, who had already lost two wives, is the father of three children. His eldest daughter was engaged to Dharmshila Devi’s son. Meanwhile, Dharmshila stated that her husband, Sunil Ram, frequently abused her, and after growing tired of his anger, she decided to marry Dayashankar.
