While K-pop star Rose is renowned for being one of the four members of BLACKPINK, she has also established herself as a soloist. She made her solo debut in 2021 with the single album R. Later, in 2024,
the singer garnered global attention for her record-breaking single, APT., a collaborative project with Bruno Mars. She also released her first full-length album, Rosie, that same year.
Naturally, after the releases, fans expected her to go on a solo tour, just like other K-pop soloists. But for Rose, that’s not happening anytime soon. During a special Grammy-themed episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, which aired on Wednesday, January 28, the BLACKPINK singer opened up about why she is not planning a solo world tour any time soon.
BLACKPINK’s Rose Needs “More Time” To Go On A Solo World Tour
Addressing fans’ growing expectations for a solo tour, Rose revealed that building a full concert experience requires more music and time. She said, “I feel like to create a whole world onstage, I need more time to build on that with extra songs as well, because right now we have, what, 12?” She admitted that she does not yet feel prepared to present a complete body of work on her own.
However, she made it clear that a solo tour is not totally off the table. Rose shared that she might consider solo concerts once she releases her second album or drops new music she can perform live. Furthermore, she asked her fans around the world to be patient, adding that she believes once she starts touring, she will enjoy it so much that she will want to continue for a long time. As for now, she is choosing to wait, explaining that she does not want to “ruin that experience” by making hasty decisions.
BLACKPINK’s Rose Received Four Nods At 68th Grammys
The episode of the podcast, hosted by Alex Cooper, celebrated Rose’s remarkable achievements ahead of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 1. For the upcoming ceremony, she made history by receiving nominations for her collaboration with Bruno Mars, APT. The K-pop star has been nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. With this, she became the first Korean soloist to receive nominations in the Grammy general fields. She also secured a fourth nomination for Messy from F1: The Album.
