Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up their third win of the IPL 2026 at the cost of Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday as SRH set CSK a target of 195 and managed to contain the five-time champions to 184/8 in 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan lauded the young bowling unit that did exceptionally well as Eshan Malinga starred with a three-fer, Nitish Kumar Reddy bagged a couple of scalps, while youngsters Praful Hinge, Shakib Hussain and Shivang Kumar picked up a wicket each.
“It’s lovely when you have a bunch of young bowlers coming up with their own plans and it was brilliant to see them do their job,” the SRH skipper said.
“Looking at them in practice sessions, giving their best, makes me confident to give them the ball and
let them do what they want to,” he added lauding his bowling unit.
SRH posted 194/9 against Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2026 clash, built on rapid half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. Abhishek’s blazing 15-ball fifty powered SRH to over 70 in the powerplay before Mukesh Choudhary struck twice in two balls to remove Travis Head and Ishan Kishan.
Jamie Overton then triggered a collapse, dismissing Abhishek, Aniket Verma and Nitish Kumar Reddy to finish with three wickets. Klaasen kept the innings together with a crucial fifty before falling to Anshul Kamboj, who went on to claim a three-fer by removing Shivang Kumar and Liam Livingstone. Gurjapneet Singh chipped in by dismissing Salil Arora as SRH were held to 194.
In the chase, CSK lost openers Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad early, with Mhatre also falling cheaply. Matt Short and Sarfaraz Khan briefly steadied the innings before Sarfaraz was removed by Eshan Malinga, who later dismissed Short for 34 off 30. Dewald Brevis departed for a duck to Shivang Kumar, leaving CSK five down. Shivam Dube’s 21 ended at the hands of Shakib Hussain, and Praful Hinge dismissed Jamie Overton for 16 in the final over, effectively sealing SRH’s victory.
