Man Claims Boss ‘Yelled’ At Him For Resigning, Crossed The Line With Personal Remark: ‘But I Had The Last Laugh’

Sometimes, resignations at the workplace are simple. A formal email, a short meeting and maybe even a farewell party. But for one man, that wasn’t the case. He shared his experience through a post on Reddit that has now caught widespread attention online.

In his post, the man, working at a multinational company, explained how his decision to resign triggered an aggressive reaction from his senior manager. “My manager yelled at me for resigning but I had the last laugh,” he wrote in title.

Manager Loses Temper After Employee Resigns

According to the post, things escalated the moment he submitted his resignation. Instead of a professional response, his manager allegedly went into a rage.

“I resigned from my job last week, and my super boss completely

lost it. The moment I handed in my resignation, he went on a rant, name-calling, accusing me of ‘abandoning the team,’ the usual guilt-trip nonsense,” the man shared.

The employee further shared that this reaction came “from the same guy who’s ignored repeated complaints from the entire team about our incompetent manager.”

Employee Keeps Calm During Heated Exchange

Despite the outburst, the employee said he chose not to react emotionally. He calmly repeated the same line throughout the confrontation. “I’m resigning for personal reasons, and I can’t share them right now.”

Instead of calming the situation, this made the manager even angrier. The employee claimed the boss eventually “crossed the line with a personal remark.” At that point as well, he decided to stay silent and let the manager vent.

When the manager finally stopped, he allegedly demanded that the employee revoke his resignation.

That is when the employee made a move that he described as his “last laugh”.

“So I leaned forward, very calmly, and asked: ‘Could you please arrange for me to be released earlier?’” The question left the manager stunned.

“He froze. Angrily dared me to come again. I repeated it in the same polite tone: “Could you let me go before serving the full notice period?” he wrote.

“I had no intention of leaving early. I just wanted to see him realize he had no control anymore. Totally worth it!” the post concluded.
