On the list of bizarre things that made it to the news today, this conflict over kittens’ alleged child support claims tops the list. The conflict escalated when the resident’s male cat impregnated a neighbour’s female cat, which resulted in four kittens being born.
This custody battle was resolved by the Bangalore police, who peacefully put an end to the fight. Yashir Mushtaq, an X user, shares the details and videos of the same on the platform.
After being impregnated by the neighbour’s male cat, the female cat gave birth to four little kittens. The owner of the female cat seemingly barged into the neighbour’s house, demanding that since the neighbour is the owner of the father, they should be the ones responsible for raising and sponsoring
the kittens. This was followed by a heated argument between the families, which led to the police being called by a spectator.
The police arrived on the scene and were thoroughly amused. They mediated and resolved the matter, proposing that neither of the two families would be coerced into keeping the kittens and stated that the kittens were open to being adopted by a third willing party.
Both families shook on the deal, and the kittens were moved to their new home, resulting in the successful closure of the matter.
Social media reactions are mixed and delve into serious conversations about the parenting responsibilities of pet owners as well as discussions about neutering practices.
“How did they separate the kittens from the mother? Should have waited for 4 weeks to give them away. Both Cats are responsible, so they could’ve been kept for two weeks each,” a user commented.
Another asked, “How has the mother cat allowed its kittens to be taken away. The owner of the mother cat should have taken responsibility for the kittens.”
“Why are the cats or dogs not neutered in India. Why is it not mandatory? With so many pet lovers Govt. Should think of yearly licence fee and insurance with mandatory rules to follow,” a third added.
