An influencer from Gurugram has alleged a disturbing case of stalking and harassment by a police officer. A video by Shiwangi Peswani has gone viral, where she narrated how a cop stalked her movement and sent her unsolicited and disturbing messages on Instagram.
Peswani said the incident occurred on September 14, when she returned home to Gurugram. When she reached around 12:45 am, she received a comment on her reel by an apparently female user, who claimed to know her exact car details, location and movements.
She initially thought it was a female follower, but the person told her that they belonged to the police. Shiwangi had realised that a male officer in a police vehicle was following her on that day. When she spoke to the person on DM, the person revealed
that he had been tracking her using her car details and found her Instagram.
The officer also admitted that he was a male policeman using a fake ID of a policewoman, saying he had taken a liking for the woman and wanted to talk to her.
“It was shocking that a police officer, whom the government has appointed for our safety, has been tracking my live movements, using my personal details and messaging me in such a manner. And he did not stop there,” Peswani further said.

She said that the officer continued to send her unsolicited and disturbing messages, even commenting on her age after watching her reels. “I was shocked by how a police officer could text me like that. They are supposed to safeguard me,” she said.
The woman filed a police complaint against the officer, sharing that she was deeply disturbed the entire week. After 8-9 days, the police traced the person and summoned her before the SHO. However, the SHO and another officer appeared to defend the person and asked why she was getting offended. They said he had no wrong intentions and only sought friendship with her.
“What kind of approach is this? Why should I let it go? If I have to suffer this at this age, imagine what the young girls must be facing,” she said, adding that women should not have to fear being tracked and harassed by those meant to protect them.
“This is nothing less than stalking, harassment, and a gross misuse of police authority,” Peswani said in the caption. “This is not about me alone — it’s about ensuring that no woman feels unsafe because of such abuse of authority.”
Social media users lauded the woman’s courage and criticised police for defending the person who harassed her. “Unbelievable this is and then they have the audacity to take it so casually…..so glad u filed the complaint and got vocal about it,” a user said in the comment section.
“Maybe at first we could have just let it go, blocked him, and moved on. But when I heard that he actually traced you, your vehicle number, and even your ID, that crossed every limit it was extremely dangerous and risky,” another person commented. “That’s unacceptable. You did the right thing by filing a complaint, because as girls we already face all kinds of random DMs and unwanted messages, but this is far more serious.”
“That’s a case of stalking, breach of privacy & safety, illegal tracking and harassment online and in person too. Block karke bhi stalking bandh kar dega kya vo? (Will he stop stalking after he is blocked?),” a third person wrote.
